Since moving to Espanyol in January 2019 the forward has been the subject of major interest from his home country. It remains to be seen whether Wu Lei can have a significant impact on Espanyol in the rest of the LaLiga Santander season.
Unfortunately, he has also been one of the Espanyol players in the last couple of months to test positive for coronavirus.
In a survey conducted by LaLiga on the Weibo website of the Chinese social network, users were asked to choose between Wu Lei and Lionel Messi and the Chinese player is ahead.
More data shows that Wu Lei’s first goal for Espanyol generated 14 times the amount of reactions than Messi’s goals in China.
