Not many English players have made the switch to La Liga. Kieran Trippier was willing to risk it last summer, when he moved from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid.
It was one of last season’s stranger signings but it ended up being one of the big success stories. Trippier even took the opportunity to explain how happy he was with his new team.
“If I’d known how happy I was going to be an I would have come to Atletico earlier,” the right-back commented, Mundo Deportivo quotes the England international to have said. “La Liga is totally different to the Premier League, I had to improve my defending and that was something I freely admitted last season.”
He was a big success with fans and coaching staff. He also enjoyed some of his career’s best football, before European football was interrupted by the coronavirus crisis.
It is a sure path to further success if one isplaying for Madrid’s Diego Simeone and Mono Burgos. Another season under their tutelage and Trippier can really continue to develop into one of the best-attacking right-backs in the world.
However, the next transfer window is almost on the move again. So, anything may happen.
