Nelson Semedo joined Barcelona from the Portuguese club in 2017, but is now set to depart Camp Nou. In this case, the right-back has shared his wish to return to Benfica.
During his time with Benfica, he won two Primeira Liga titles as well as other major trophies.
“It was indescribable,” Semedo told Benfica’s club media. “Being champions with the club of your heart is a great satisfaction. It’s a dream come true. It was spectacular. [Benfica] gave us good values as players and as men.”
Talks to extend his current contract past its 2022 expiry date have recently broken down and Semedo is now on sale this summer.
The 26-year-old is attracting attention from clubs across Europe, but he’d rather go back to a familiar environment. “I’d like to return to a time where I could give everything and help the team, not only to earn money like other people,” he said.
However, Semedo is one of those who could be used to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter in a deal, so it doesn’t seem like he’s going back to Benfica any time soon.
