Mauricio Pochettino had intended to send Harry Maguire to Tottenham Hotspurs, Danny Rose claims.
“Mauricio was the boss and Harry had the gaffer in. Tottenham were in for him, I suppose. I noticed him right after that until Poch developed a liking for him. It was a wonderful journey for him,” Rose told his England colleague’s Lockdown Tactics podcast.
The long-time manager of the Spurs was apparently “all over” the powerful centre-half well before Manchester United put in force a record-breaking £ 80 million ($97 million) offer.
Rose said: “I recall we were playing Hull at White Hart Lane and we were 3-0 winners.
“Training for England with him, you weren’t able to keep the ball off him. He is really great. He totally deserves to be captain of Manchester United.”
