The Romanian football championship was interrupted by the emergency shutdowns made necessary by the coronavirus pandemic. Now, it is rumoured that the tournament could end in Turkey.
When it was interrupted, CFR Cluj was leading with 30 points, and Steaua was second with 26 points as much as Universitatea.
According to Romanian media, club leaders have since found an incredible solution to continue the league at the last video conference. They would move the competition to Turkey’s Antalya for two months and play the remaining eight rounds there.
The clubs would first do two weeks of preparation and then continue the season, which would last until July. The football players would be isolated in single rooms in hotels, and including the cost of accommodation, transport and stadium rentals, the entire project could cost around two million euros.
Hotels in Antalya are nearly empty this year. Almost everyone has their own training complex as well.
However, there is a problem in that part of the field is not eligible for TV broadcasts.
