In the 2019-20 season, Manchester United center-back Chris Smalling joined Roma on loan last summer and inspired the Italian outfit, making 28 appearances in all competitions.
According to latest news, the 30-year-old may also spend the campaign 2020-21 on loan with Roma. A source states that the former non-league defender will also spend the next term with Roma, ensuring once again that the Italian side would cover his wages.
At Old Trafford, Smalling’s contract is set to run until the summer of 2022.
The Serie A giants have said they want to sign the Englishman on a permanent contract on a number of occasions, but it is known that they will fail to arrive at an agreement with United.
Smalling is more likely to have his current loan contract extended to continue with Paulo Fonseca’s side for the rest of the 2019-20 season, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
