Roma has reported that Joseph Bouasse Perfection, a former academy player, has died after a heart attack.
“The club is desperately saddened to learn of the untimely death of former Primavera player, Joseph Bouasse Perfection,” Roma wrote on Twitter. “The thoughts of everyone at AS Roma are with all those closest to him.”
The 21-year-old arrived in Rome in 2015 from his native Cameroon when he was abandoned by a human trafficker.
Until signing for Roma in 2017, he started out for Liberi Nantes where he was loaned out of Vicenza in Serie B.
Fellow footballer Antonio Rüdiger also shared his condolences via a Twitter post showing a picture of him with the deceased player.
