Coach Julian Nagelsmann of RB Leipzig confessed to not having any leverage anymore to retain Timo Werner.
The €60 m clause for Werner in RB Leipzig expires on June 15. As such, Juventus and Inter are on high alert following the possible departure of RB Leipzig after this departure.
“There is nothing we can do about it. He knows what he has in Leipzig and also what he has with me,” said coach Nagelsmann according to Football Italia. “In the end, it is his life, his career, he can decide that. I can’t think of anything new to say to Timo.”
He added, “He gets many chances to develop himself. I don’t know if it will help him that much if I tell him every day. A player has to feel that he can get better. If he doesn’t feel that, it wouldn’t do any good if I kept on telling him to stay here.”
Liverpool remains the player’s favourites, even though they are apparently reluctant to pay the release fee and plan to negotiate a lower price.
So far this season Werner has scored 31 goals and 12 assists in 40 competitive games for RB Leipzig.
The striker is hot property, with competition from Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea on the transfer market. Juventus and Inter are both also on a chase for him for Series A, but the Nerazzurri will only go for him if Lautaro Martinez joined Barcelona.
