Captain Yussuf Poulsen was confirmed by RB Leipzig to have sustained ligament damage in his right ankle. As a result, he will not be able to play matches- his time on the bench being indefinite.
“In the match against Mainz 05 our forward Yussuf Poulsen suffered a ligament fracture in his right ankle,” a statement on the club’s official website read. “As a consequence of Monday’s check he’ll be out before further notice.”
Poulsen indeed suffered the injury during Sunday’s 5-0 rout of Mainz’s opening 20 minutes before moving on to score one goal and set up two more.
While being able to play against Mainz, on Monday, the Denmark international underwent a scan and it was reported that he will have to spend time on the side-lines.
