Samir Nasri spent the 2016/17 loan season in Seville, but the French playmaker explained how Jorge Sampaoli persuaded him to return to the club.
“Sampaoli wanted me so much that he said me: Come to our team, you can drink, go clubbing, do anything you want and I’m going to cover your butt in front of the club.” Nasri said during an Instagram Live.
His stay in Manchester City was coming to an end then. While he was searching for a new club, the Argentinean seemed to do enough to persuade Nasri to move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, reports Marca.
“All I want is that you’re good on the pitch at the weekend. In fact, once I wasn’t able to play and I wanted to go home and see my family and he offered to watch my house and look after my dog,” said Nasri.
Nasri had an amazing start in the Andalusian capital, but things began to unravel after getting treatment in Los Angeles, which later resulted in an 18-month ban from football.
“What happened in Los Angeles ruined my season.” he said. “It was a legal vitamin injection, because I had a prescription, but the doctor injected me with a greater dose than I had expected. I was broken and I felt I was going to be suspended for two years. I was confused, nervous and frustrated about everything. I didn’t show it at the field, but sport has been over for me.”
Again, Sampaoli came to the rescue: “I didn’t want to play again after that. I also asked Sampaoli to put me out, but he just wanted me to continue.”
