Napoli warned that they would not encourage Kalidou Koulibaly to quit in a cut-price offer, maintaining that the interest of the defender during the coronavirus crisis has not budged.
Giuntoli is not ready to buy into the idea that all of a sudden, the top players would be available at cheaper rates than before COVID-19 struck.
“They say negotiations are going to change but, in my opinion, this is an alibi. I don’t think the issue of coronavirus can change Koulibaly’s price or other top players.” Giuntoli told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport 24.
Speaking about Koulibaly’s future, sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said: “He’s a good footballer and the club is entitled to ask for the price it wants.
“Nevertheless, we will definitely come to appreciate the contractual formula such as the loan with an option to buy, which helps to delay the guarantees and immediately ease the balance. Football can quickly adapt.”
