Rabbi Matondo says that he is not considering a potential transfer among reports that Manchester United is interested in signing him.
The 19-year-old Wales international left for Schalke following three years at the Manchester City academy in January 2019. There have been rumours that United is contemplating to invoke the termination clause in the deal, although City is also believed to have an opportunity to purchase him back.
“I’m focusing on Schalke. I also have to reach my targets with Schalke. I’m only working on that because we’re just watching how things are progressing, so I’m focusing on Schalke right now,” Matondo told Evening News in Manchester.
Matondo, who stays in his deal at Schalke for three years, maintains he is not paying attention to the uncertainty about his future, because he is concentrating on maintaining his successful work in Gelsenkirchen.
“Obviously people are thinking, telling me and things, but I don’t really care about it,” he went on. “Hopefully, I will be able to step into the [Schalke] squad and help them climb the table.”
In the Bundesliga, the attacker has succeeded, making 24 starts for the Gelsenkirchen team.
