Marcel Sabitzer, RB Leipzig midfielder, opened the door to a potential transfer to the Premier League after insisting that he is “open to everything”. He told Sport Bild, via Goal, “I’m generally open to everything (regarding Premier League interest), I don’t want to rule out anything, we’ll see.”
He joked, “Football lives on speculation. And when you play successful games abroad, it’s natural that anything like this pops up and there’s curiosity.”
The Austrian was one of the show’s highlights when Leipzig crushed Tottenham 3-0 in their last-16 second-leg Champions League game on March 10 with the 26-year-old scoring twice in the evening.
With press reports suggesting that Jose Mourinho is willing to sign, the player Sabitzer has spoken about the trade ties and feels it demonstrates that his results were of a high level: “It’s definitely recognition of your performances, it feels really good, and it is fun right now. That’s why I would like to continue after the games against Tottenham. But I’m going to try to keep going as hard as I can.”
He added, however, “But right now, I’m only focused on the tasks here. I want to finish the season first of all. This is my main goal. And then we shall see how things are placed.”
