Rennes defensive Faitout Maouassa is caught between a battle between two clubs, both wanting to secure him. Manchester United are expected to struggle with Newcastle, The Sun reports.
The Paris-born player has earned 40 caps from under-17 through to under-21 for France’s junior sides. Nevertheless, he was given the ability to play for the senior team of DR Congo, while his parents come from the African country.
This season Maouassa scored 3 goals in 32 appearances for Rennes. The 21-year-old can also act as a left winger or on the left side of the midfield-fittingly for a player.
The dynamic left-back excelled this season for his ambitious French club, helping them to take third place in Ligue 1.
Sources in Paris say that both Unified and the new-rich Magpies have been seeking information about potential offers this summer for the £10million-rated starlet.
Newcastle gained back interest after they rejected a £7million bid in January 2019 for him. Shortly afterwards, Maouassa said he dreamed about playing in the Premier League but he also felt too young to go abroad.
