Erik ten Hag is still fighting with Manchester United in the battle for a Champions League ticket. For the coach, that would make the season a success. The eye is now also focused on next season.
Ten Hag sees a change and is full of expectations for the transfer window
“I see a big difference with last year,” Ten Hag said at the press conference in the run-up to the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. De Tukker is working on a project at Old Trafford, which should lead to a return to the global top. Desired football players see that now too. “If I compare it to now, I notice that last year there were many players who had reservations about the club,” he said.
That has now changed. Ten Hag notes, “When I talk to players now, I notice that they see that we are working on a serious project. The dynamics within the club have changed. Many players we speak to about a possible transfer notice that the club has serious ambitions. The quality speaks for itself, footballers understand that.”
“Our targets are all seriously interested,” Ten Hag raised expectations. Manchester United fans can expect fireworks next summer. “A lot of real quality players want to come to our club. Expectations are higher. We had to rebuild the club, but the process is moving in the right direction.”
That is also why Champions League football is important. Ten Hag knows, “You can see that we are better football players, more active, more attacking. We have already won a prize and are still in a final. We are going in the right direction, but we also have to stay in the top four. Every day we have to want to get better. I expect that from everyone in the club.”.
“I offered Man Utd the chance to buy Haaland for four million euros”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not held sway at Old Trafford for some time, but has responded to his situation at the club in an extensive interview. But above all, he made a striking statement about Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker was presented to The Red Devils on a silver platter. Solskjaer revealed this in his interview with The Athletic. As a trainer of Molde, he had Haaland under his wing. He tipped off his football love in England, but he never got a response.
Haaland later went to RB Salzburg and ended up at Manchester City via Borussia Dortmund. Solskjaer still doesn’t get it: “I remember contacting Manchester United. I did that because we had a very talented striker, who I thought they could use. That was six months before I joined the club.”
“They didn’t listen to me, unfortunately,” Solskjaer recalls years later. Haaland is now worth a fortune, but at the time it was available for a pittance of its current market value. He concluded, “Four million. That was the asking price. Only they decided not to take him. Four million!”
