Manchester City is officially at the head of the line for the signing of Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo.
According to Sport, Semedo has attracted a lot of attention from European clubs, but Pep Guardiola’s side is leading the chase for the 26-year-old.
Barcelona is reportedly willing to part with Semedo in their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez, while the Catalan giants have reportedly seen an opening offer for the forward rejected by Inter Milan.
Likewise, Portugal’s international may be trying to move on after struggling to retain a regular place in the first team. The citizens added to their right-back ranks last summer with the arrival of Joao Cancelo, but Semedo failed to secure a permanent position.
Semedo has played 29 matches with Barcelona this season and will see his new Camp Nou contract expire in 2022.
The report however also indicates that Manchester City and Barcelona have yet to reach an agreement on the right-back, and it is not clear if Cancello will be included as part of the deal.
