According to Calciomercato, Manchester City and Real Madrid are both looking for the River Plate centre back Lucas Martinez Quarta.
They are racing to do so ahead of the forthcoming transfer deadline, which could be put back due to the current chaos in the world of football.
Quarta has appeared for River on 20 occasions during the current season. The 23-year-old, who made his Argentina debut in September 2019, has played River 96 times since his debut in 2016.
Manchester City and Real Madrid are thus both interested in signing the defender during this summer’s transfer window.
A number of other clubs are still thought to be in the running, but Inter Milan, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis are all credited with an interest.
The report argues that Quarta has a €22 m (£19.3 m) release clause in its new deal with Marcelo Gallardo.
