Germany’s international Lukas Klostermann has agreed to remain at RB Leipzig after being offered a revised contract.
A contract extension until June 2024 ensured that he plays with RB Leipzig for atleast four years more.
The flexible defender joined Leipzig in 2014, after being elevated to the 2. Bundesliga and made 159 appearances in all competitions for the side, contributing 11 goals and assisting 10.
In 2019-20, Klostermann played 33 times under Julian Nagelsmann, helping them to finish third in the Bundesliga – five points ahead of Bayern Munich’s leaders – and the Champions League quarter-finals.
Sports director Markus Krosche said: “Lukas is one of our absolute best performers and, despite being just 23 years old. He is also a very accomplished player who has made amazing progress with us so far.”
In March 2019, Klostermann also made his national team debut with Serbia in a 1-1 draw.
Klosternmann himself is happy with this new deal. “I am delighted to have renewed my deal at RB Leipzig and now there is certainty regarding my future.” said Klostermann in a statement. “I feel very confident in the team and in the community, have always had trust here and have become a senior international player.”
