Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed that he needs to introduce some fresh faces to his first-team squad.
Speaking to the, the Englishman said: “I’m certainly excited about the squad we’ve got, with the young players and if we can get a few additions for areas I feel we need.”
While a two-window transfer ban was halved prior to January, at the midway point of the campaign, the Blues struggled to make any new signings.
But at a time when the West Londoners are associated with the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Timo Werner, Lampard admitted that at the earliest opportunity he plans to make “a few additions”:
“We didn’t bring in anyone in January, it didn’t work out to be right for us at the time, and last summer we couldn’t bring anyone in, so those windows are gone and we haven’t changed.
“So, I am excited about the squad we’ve got if we can freshen up in the right areas we all know that.”
As it stands, Lampard will need to find replacements for Willian and Pedro, who are both out of contract at the end of the season.
