Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claims denying his team the Premier League championship will be “unfair” should the rest of the season be postponed owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
“There was discussion that people tried to rule the season null and void. So you thought: ’Huh? We’ve completed 76 percent of the season so you just want to erase the thing?’” he said at a. “It would have been something that I might honestly consider unjust, only to pretend that didn’t happen.”
He added, “The most critical aspect is coping with the situation, but it doesn’t mean other issues don’t exist at all simply because they’re less relevant.”
All 20 Major League clubs on Monday decided to speed up their return to training because they expect to start practicing again from June 12, but there is no assurance that games will be safe to go forward by then.
However, Klopp believes that putting a premature end to the effort would have been unfair, and it would be depriving Liverpool of the possibility of winning glory.
