According to former Italy international striker Christian Vieri, Borussia Dortmund’s teenage striker Erling Haaland is the strongest player in the football world now.
In a live interview with Corriere della Sera on Instagram, Vieri said: “Haaland is the greatest of all and has done well to select Borussia Dortmund, the right club to improve his skills. In a few years he will go to a quality team for €200 m (£175 m), perhaps €300 m (£262 m).”
While Haaland is only 19, Vieri sees him as the greatest player in the world, and may also see him one day having a transfer fee to break the world record of €222 million (£198m/$263 m) set by Neymar’s move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
Haaland has become one of the big breakthrough stars in world football this season, scoring easily for Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League before moving to the Bundesliga in January and maintaining its electric form in Germany.
Meanwhile, Vieri is a specialist in attacking talent, having spent his career as a striker in the biggest European clubs.
