Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish opened up about breaching lockout protocols in place due to coronavirus, conceding that he struggled to serve his responsibilities as a role model for the next generation.
“I’m old enough and mature enough to understand I’d gone wrong. I know I’m a footballer but I’m also a human being so we’re all making mistakes so I realized I made an error straight away,” he admitted during an interview with The Guardian.
Grealish entered the news at the end of March when his Range Rover smashed into parking cars on Birmingham streets when visiting a friend’s home.
“I immediately realized I needed to come out and apologise for what I wanted to do; I didn’t want to hide behind a statement from the club.” Grealish said. “I’m also a role model for many people out there, particularly young children who may look up to me.
“That’s how I’m going to behave in a responsible way because since then I’ve been trying to hold my head down, work hard to do as much charity work as possible.”
The Villa talisman thus apologized for his profound mistake in judgement, but he also emphasized that he is “still human and we are all making mistakes.”
