Lazio and Inter transfer candidate Olivier Giroud have reportedly extended their Chelsea deal until June 2021.
“I am delighted to continue my journey and adventure at Chelsea. I can’t wait to get back to playing and enjoying competitive football with my team-mates,” he told the official club website.
The striker was going to be a free agent this summer, and he was on the verge of transferring to Inter in January, but he was abandoned because other deals didn’t go through.
Antonio Conte had been hoping for a reunion next season in San Siro, and Lazio was also expected to play for the 33-year-old.
Chelsea, however, revealed this evening that they had taken the opportunity to extend the deal for another year. Giroud himself seems to be excited about remaining with Chelsea:
“I’m looking forward to wearing the Chelsea shirt again, especially in front of our fans at a full Stamford Bridge, whenever it is safe to do so.”
