Frenkie de Jong will stay in Barcelona after Juventus reportedly failed in negotiating Barca for the player.
The 23-year-old shone at Ajax during the 2018-19 season before joining the Spanish champions (Barcelona) in the transfer window last summer.
The Netherlands international signed a five-year agreement upon his arrival at Camp Nou, but according to Sport, Juve recently asked whether the player could be available this summer.
However, the report claims, Quique Setien’s side was swift to close the Italian club’s enquiry, making it clear that the Dutchman will not be available for any price before the 2020-21 season.
Barca itself, meanwhile, is said to be planning to battle Liverpool to sign the core of RB Leipzig, striker Timo Werner, ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
Juventus clearly lost out on an excellent player. De Jong has been in excellent form for Barca this term, adding two goals and four assists in 37 competition appearances.
