Tottenham has had frequent talks with Flamengo midfielder Gerson’s entourage, confirms Goal.
The Premier League side is willing to bid £6 million ($20 m) for the signing of the 23-year-old.
It may be of little surprise, however, that the player doesn’t seem to be in a rush to secure a move to Europe.
The Brazilian club, for one,has acknowledged to have no intention of selling one of their star men.
Moreover, the player himself appears to be determined to stay in his home country to continue his growth under Jorge Jesus, who recently signed a one-year contract extension.
Gerson has no issues with the decision to stay because he is eager to maintain his successful run under his new coach in an attempt to get a call-up from the Brazilian national team.
As such, Spurs’ £16m offer would not be approved.
