Eden Hazard, a Real Madrid winger, is “recovering well” from his ankle surgery, his coach Roberto Martinez has revealed.
“I know he is recovering well. He is not far from running again and there are no complications,” Martinez, the Belgium head coach, is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
The 29-year-old Hazard went under a knife in the United States last month after another loss in what was a wounded Bernabeu debut campaign. However, the suspension of football due to the coronavirus pandemic has reduced the amount of games he missed during his most recent absence, and Martinez has confirmed that the former Chelsea attacker is close to being able to run again.
“Everything went well with the operation, but you also hope that everything goes well in the four to five weeks afterwards without complications, and there were none. We know he will return stronger. We were also fortunate, of course, to have his surgery take place just before the coronavirus outbreak. Otherwise he would not be able to travel or be treated outside of Madrid. I have a positive feeling that Eden will be back soon,” says Martinez.
