Barcelona has been on the transfer market looking for a right-back after Nelson Semedo’s contract negotiations broke down. Now it is reported that the Catalan club held negotiations with Juventus on the signing of Mattia de Sciglio.
During the Barcelona negotiations with Juve on the move for Miralem Pjanic, Semedo, Sergi Roberto, Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal were offered by Blaugrana as makeweights.
There is also the chance of Joao Cancelo, but for the Portuguese international, Barcelona has not made contact with Manchester City according to Marca.
However, De Sciglio’s name has also come up in those discussions. The Italian indeed has a lot of admirers on the Barcelona board and, seeing that he’s a decent defender, he’s seen as a suitable alternative to the more attacking Sergi Roberto on the right-back.
De Sciglio will also be available in terms of funding, with Juve aiming for about 10 million EUR for the 27-year-old. De Sciglio’s transfer depends on Semedo’s first sale, but that’s not the only choice for Barcelona.
They still have Moussa Wague, who is going to return from his loan to Nice, and Emerson, currently in Real Betis, to their books.
As a result, the Portuguese defender will be on sale this summer or will be included in a trade deal to sign another player.
