Manchester City Captain David Silva is reportedly ready to put the pen on paper for a short-term contract extension to Etihad for the rest of the season.
According to ESPN, Manchester City is eager to keep Silva in the books until the end of the season. Silva has scored three goals and seven assists within 19 Premier League appearances this term.
The report argues that Silva is able to live on the Etihad because he’s still holding out for the Champions League’s glory, with Pep Guardiola already 2-1 ahead of Real Madrid in the last 16.
The veteran midfielder is set to leave Manchester when his new contract expires on June 30th after 10 years with the people, during which time he has scored 73 goals from 423 appearances.
However, if the Premier League season is given the green light to play in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the 2019-20 campaign will not resume until the 12th of June at the earliest. So, Silva certainly requires an extension on his loan if he wishes to finish the season on the side of the City.
