Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos has confirmed that Arsenal players have shown signs of coronavirus symptoms following diagnosis from manager Mikel Arteta but have not yet been checked.
“One morning, I woke up and found out that Arteta tested positive,” he said. “The team had been quarantined. There were players with symptoms but we’re all right. They haven’t tested us.”
Arteta became English football’s first high-profile person to test positive for the illness back in March, and has now made a full recovery. Arsenal’s entire first-team squad was eventually quarantined for a period of two weeks, and Ceballos, speaking to Movistar in Spain (via Evening Standard) – has now reported that a number of players had symptoms as well.
“I’m doing the best I can. It’s difficult to be away from the family. Here, in England, you can easily walk down the street and exercise once a day,” Ceballos added about his personal state.
With a possible Premier League return in June, Arsenal players have to make limited individual returns to the club’s London Colney training base on Monday, following strict rules and guidelines for social distance.
