Philippe Coutinho underwent ankle surgery last month, originally expected to hold him out for a few weeks.
Coutinho has made 22 starts and 10 substitute outings in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals.
The remainder of Bundesliga may now be skipped by the Brazilian after being omitted before the closing days of June. Due to this, Bayern Munich reportedly received a blow in advance of their scheduled return to the campaign action.
As it stands, the Barcelona loanee might remain out of contention for Bayern’s final 13 matches in Germany’s top flight.
Barcelona will also be keen to monitor Coutinho’s recovery period as they attempt to find a buyer for the 27-year-old ahead of the next transfer window.
