Aaron Wan-Bissaka is “tailor-made” for Manchester United, claims former youth coach Colin Omogbehin.
This is because the full-back boasts the “never-say-die mentality” on which the Red Devils pride themselves. He talks to theabout his former charge: “He’s got a fantastic never give up mentality, never-say-die.”
Omogbehin is not amazed by the success of Wan-Bissaka, talking of a player he’s worked with in youth football and the Palace Academy:
“He has that fighting ability whenever required. I’ve already seen this type of character and they usually have a long career in the game. Because they are focused and driven every day- not just a few days- this is why they end up playing every week because they can be trusted by the manager.”
Omogbehin argues that this has been the case for some time now, with the skill of Wan-Bissaka first noticed by the grassroots club Junior Elite in London and then by Palace:
“He’s very hungry, he’s worked for every possibility he’s given- it’s never been handed over to him. Even at Crystal Palace there was a time when they weren’t sure about him and he had to come through that period, around 13, 14 years old.”
