Barcelona has been compelled to draw up plans to close Camp Nou for another 10 months so as to not violate the recent health mandates initiated by Spain to counter the coronavirus pandemic.
Spain has been one of the worst countries hit by the epidemic of COVID-19. Nearly 21,000 people have been affected by respiratory diseases in the country.
Since the beginning of March, football events in relation to La Liga have been cancelled. The competition itself will not start until June at the earliest.
According to the Catalan newspaper La Vanguardia, Barca is already planning for a worst-case scenario that will see them play behind closed doors until February 2021.
The same report suggests that the Spanish champions are already planning for a month-long transfer window between August 15 and September 15.
La Liga Leader Javier Tebas warned earlier this month that Spanish football might lose up to €1 billion (£882 m) as a result of the pandemic. This figure may increase drastically if the La Vanguardia has estimated Bacra’s plans correctly.
