Barcelona is currently facing the possibility of losing out on a contract for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez this summer because they are struggling to put together a package for Argentina’s international community.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Quique Setien’s side tried to reduce the expense of the deal by offering Inter the option of a range of first-team players. However, the report argues that the Italians have not yet been happy with any package offered by the Catalan giants, indicating that they will fail to sign the center this summer.
Martinez, who was previously linked to Real Madrid and Manchester City, scored 16 times in 31 appearances for Antonio Conte during the 2019-20 campaign. The new 22-year-old agreement in San Siro will continue until June 2023.
Martinez has a €111 m (£97.1 m) release clause in his new contract at San Siro. It is now popularly understood that the Spanish champions will fail to afford the buy-out fee due to the financial effect of the coronavirus.
